About the Show

For many people, midlife is a time when one begins to finally slow down long enough to question life’s purpose. For others, midlife brings profound physical and emotional changes that can be unsettling, leaving one feeling stuck and confused. Our host Kat Tansey believes midlife is a magical time, if we explore our life experiences and allow ourselves to imagine what our life could be like if we let go of our old beliefs.

Every week, listen to Kat’s insightful interviews with accomplished and talented guests from many walks of life. Most of them are authors, but this description falls far short of conveying the broad scope of the expertise of the interviewees on Finding Magic in Midlife.

Guests have included artists, professors, radio and film producers, scientists, organization consultants, psychologists and psychiatrists, medical doctors, documentary film writers, animal activists, personal coaches, social activists, educators, speakers, psychic healers, medical intuitives, and entrepreneurs.

Now in its fourth year, the show reflects the changing world of technology and social media, as today Kat meets many of her guests through Twitter and Facebook, and conducts interviews with guests around the world using Skype.

And in April 2011, the mission of Finding Magic in Midlife expanded when Kat interviewed her first male guest, Dr. Allan Hunter, to discuss his theory of six archetypes for deep understanding of the self. This event marked a turning point in the show, which now focuses on partnership and inclusion as the means by which we can all develop as human beings.

The Finding Magic in Midlife Show airs every Thursday at 6PM EST. All shows are recorded and are available in the archived shows for listening at your convenience.

Kat Tansey

An award-winning author, teacher, and talk show host, Kat Tansey spent her early career consulting with corporations to help them effectively implement organization-wide changes. To provide her expertise to a wider audience, she wrote Winning the Change Game, a story about a struggling manager who was helped by an unlikely guru to successfully launch a major corporate initiative.

Then after twenty years, Kat had to close her consulting business when she was struck down by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in the early 90’s Her book, Choosing to Be: Lessons in Living from a Feline Zen Master, is the story of her journey from deep depression to emotional wellness. The book was awarded the Independent Publisher’s Bronze Medal and has been highly praised by reviewers around the globe.

The positive response to Kat’s Prospering in 2010 webinar series has motivated her to develop a new webinar program called The Versatile Leader™. She is drawing on her broad expertise in corporate training to teach people how to interact well with all sorts of people in many different kinds of situations, while using her years of meditation training to help them learn how to do this without feeling stressed or inauthentic.
