Robert W. Barron is a nationally known commercial real estate attorney with the Florida law firm of Berger Singerman. With offices in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and Tallahassee, Berger Singerman serves leading companies, successful individuals and other law firms. Robert’s extensive experience in representing developers, owners or lenders in complex real estate matters has resulted in his being named as one of the "Legal Elite" by Florida Trend magazine; listed in the “Florida Super Lawyers” list compiled by Law & Politics magazine; and honored by the South Florida Legal Guide as one of the “Top Lawyers” in the areas of commercial real estate and corporate transactions. Robert has significant experience in all sectors the commercial real estate industry, with specific experience with: the acquisition and disposition of office, industrial, and multi-family properties, the acquisition and disposition of luxury and near-luxury hotel properties and the negotiation of hotel management contracts related thereto, the representation of lenders and borrower in commercial real estate loan transactions and workouts (including defeasance opportunities), the representation of owners and developers in connection with construction projects and related architect agreements, and the negotiation of investment partnership agreements and LLC operating agreements. With the recent downturn in the Florida real estate market, Robert is actively involved with many of the area’s highest profile distressed real estate projects. He serves as either lead counsel or local counsel in both real estate workouts and bankruptcies where he teams with Berger Singerman’s nationally recognized Restructuring team lead by Paul Singerman. Prior to joining Berger Singerman, Robert was a managing director and partner of a private merchant banking firm with offices in Boca Raton (FL) and New York City. Before that, he practiced law in Dallas, Texas with one of the ten largest law firms in the United States. Robert is very active in local civic projects. He is a graduate and member of Leadership Fort Lauderdale Class VII, which is sponsored by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, the current chair of the Advisory Committee for Leadership Fort Lauderdale and the past Curriculum Chairman for Class X of Leadership Fort Lauderdale. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Board of Governors for the Chamber. He is a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Gamma Beta Phi Society. Robert received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Oral Roberts University, and his law degree from Louisiana State University Law Center where he was valedictorian. He is licensed to practice law, and a member of the Bar, in the States of Florida, Texas and Louisiana and he is a member of the American Bar Association.
