Dr. David Player is the founder of Health By Design – and a good statement to describe what is it that Health By Design does is: “A place where physicians serve and heal… and medicine is considered a ministry.”
Most people go to a health care provider when they’re sick. Some wait until they’re critically ill. That is how most patients view health care and that is what physicians have been traditionally trained for: the detection and treatment of illness. He founded a practice called Health by Design in 1982. He did this because he believed that medicine is a ministry, a higher calling in which physician’s should serve and heal, in personal relationships of mutual trust with the patient. Health by Design was founded with that philosophy and has grown through a leadership team of doctors and professionals committed to this great mission. They share a common philosophy of health and wellness, see their business as a ministry, and respect the health care team they have formed together. Dr. Player received his medical training at the University of Illinois Medical School and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and specialty in training in Nephrology at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, where he serve as chief resident in Medicine. Nephrology is a branch of internal medicine and pediatrics dealing with the study of the function and diseases of the kidney. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Player serves as a medical consultant to numerous businesses and corporate insurance plans. His special interests include diseases of the kidney, preventive medicine, and the integration of alternative medicine and conventional medicine into mainstream healthcare.
